Description

Dublin Mountains stretching from Tallaght in West Dublin to Shankill in South Dublin covers 43km of fully waymarked trail. It’s only 8 miles from O’Connell Street, and is one of the top scenic walks in Europe, and is an unbeatable outdoor idea on city’s doorstep. There are three walking trails to suit every one. Get out, put the energy together and see what magnificent views Dublin Mountais has to offer.

First trail. Starting point- Shankill Village. Distance- 6km Duration 1.5 – 2hours.
Easy level.
How to get there: take a DART at Connolly Station to Shankill and start your adventure from Brady’s pub in Shankill village.

Second trail. Starting point- Ticknock. Distance- 8.8km Duration-2, 5 hours. Moderate level.
How to get there: take a green Luas line to Dundrum and catch a 44b bus straight to Ballinteer.

Third trail. Starting point- Hellfire. Distance- 10.7km. Duration-3hours. Difficult level.
This is the most difficult walk, but is a good challenge.
How to get there: there is no public transport, so you have to drive in order to try the hardest trail.
The Hell Fire car park has 70 parking spaces and the main entrance to the forest is situated about 6.5km south of Rathfarnham on R115 to Glencullen.

Tip: The western end of the third trail, is in Sean Walsh Park in Tallaght only 5 minutes’ walk from Tallaght Luas Stop. Hop on on red Luas line, get off in Tallaght Stop.
Tip: make sure you have proper clothing as it might be colder as it seems and a cozy footwear!
